Is it possible to only throw up once from food poisoning?

About a month ago I woke up in the middle of the night nauseous and threw up twice, then fell back asleep and was fine the next day. Then the same thing happened last night but i only threw up once. This was unsual for me because I usually throw up once or twice a year at the most. What could this be from? a minor flu, or minor food poisoning?
