Should i wait for my boyfriend?

im 18 and he is 22 but nevertheless my boyf is in jail for a year for violating probation and it hasn't even been a week and i miss him like crazy i know that im in love and the feeling is mutual but everyone keeps telling me to move on because i am so young what should i do???
