How to memorize a monologue? Please help!?

I am 19 and an aspiring actress. I have been reading ALOT of online playwrights and now I am trying to train my brain into memorizing playwrights. Problem is I have come across this short monologue and for some strange reason I'm having a hard time memorizing it. I don't know why...maybe cause I never had to memorize a monologue before. Sometimes I got it then sometimes I keep screwing up. deep in my heart I know I know it, but I keep screwing up. The monologue is sooo easy. I have been racking my brain to memorize it. I HAVE to memorize it. I guess to prove something to myself that I have the potential to be an actress. How to memorize a monologue and recite it with confidence? I even take momentary pauses to get my thought process together and it hasn't been flowing great. Maybe I'm to much of a perfectionist and to hard on myself?
